These days it is not only the banks and financial institution that are in competition with one another to try and win customer and stay a step ahead of their financial competitors. A number of supermarket giants have also become involved in the financial sector, creating even more competition for the industry.
Many consumers now have loans, insurance services, and credit cards through various supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s, and the latter looks to be throwing down the gauntlet to others by improving its rewards based credit card, which is available for Nectar card holders only.
Rewards based credit cards have always proven popular, and with many people hoping to avoid paying interest on their credit card debt and wanting to get the best value for money the popularity of these cards could continue to increase. This is something that Sainsbury’s seems to have picked up on, and has improved its credit card scheme accordingly.
Those that are members of the Nectar card club and who are looking to get one of these credit cards could enjoy getting double point for purchases made on the credit card. When the card is used online, in the store, or on petrol from Sainsbury’s users can benefit from earning double points, which means that they can earn two points for every £1 spent.
One consumer who was thinking of getting one of the credit cards said that the card would offer value for money providing that the balance was repaid within the interest free period. Like the Virgin credit card the supermarket card offers twelve months of interest credit on balance transfers as well as twelve months of interest free credit on purchases.
