"Skiers can still afford to hit the slopes by spreading the cost on a credit card"

By admin | January 28th, 2010 | Credit Cards

A spokesperson from the Spanish owned bank Santander has stated recently that whilst many skiing enthusiasts may wonder how they are going to afford to take their skiing trip this year taking out a suitable could be the ideal solution, as this would allow them to make the payment for their skiing trip and then spread the cost over a period of time, in some cases on an interest free basis providing they get the right credit card.

This is the time of year when many people start planning their trip to the slopes to enjoy some winter sports. However, with sterling having tumbled over the past year the cost to the consumer to go on this type of holiday has risen by around 15 percent, and with the financial difficulties that many have faced over the past year, which has been a very turbulent one in terms of finances and the economy, finding the cash to pay for the skiing trip could be tricky.

A spokesperson from Santander said that one option for consumers was to try and find a different skiing destination that worked out cheaper. However, in many cases these cheaper destinations were much further away than the skiing destinations that many people were used to, and this meant that it would be impractical for those that were only heading out on a short skiing break.

She said that in order to make the trip more affordable skiers could look for a 0 percent purchase credit card that would enable them to spread the cost of the trip over a lengthy period without paying interest.

She also said that with the right card consumers could avoid unnecessary fees and charges whilst they were away, stating: “One way that winter holidaymakers can avoid unnecessary additional costs is to use a credit card that doesn’t charge them a fee on transactions made in a foreign currency.”
