"Best European credit card is Santander Zero"

By admin | January 13th, 2010 | Credit Cards

A credit card offered by the Spanish owned bank Santander has recently scooped an award for being the Best European Credit Card.

The credit card provider scooped the award at the 2009 Oscards in the Service Category, and the card that won the title was the Santander Zero credit card. There were five hundred entrants in the various categories for the awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in the credit card industry, and out of these sixty four were short-listed for awards.

Emma Roberts from Santander Credit Cards said that it was a great achievement for the Santander Zero card to have won the award given the number of competitors from across Europe.

She said that the category in which the card had won the award was a tough one, and that she was pleased that in such a tough climate the Santander Zero card was continuing to lead the way.

She went on to state that the Santander Zero card offered consumers value for money, quality, and great service, which had all helped the card to scoop the prestigious title. She added that the bank had proven that the simplicity of a fee free card such as Zero enabled customers to get what they wanted from their credit card without any fuss or hassle.

In the meantime Santander will continue with the rebranding of the UK financial institutions that it now owns, including Abbey, Alliance & Leicester, and Bradford & Bingley. It will also be launching the Zero current account in the UK in the New Year, and with this account customers that go into the red on their account will not be charged a fee even if the overdraft was unauthorised, and will instead pay interest at a rate of 12.9 percent.
