"Goldfish card customers have their perks reduced"

By admin | August 19th, 2009 | Credit Cards

There has been some more bad news for some UK credit card customers recently, after it was revealed that perks were being reduced for those with Goldfish credit cards.

A number of cardholders have been selected to take part in a trial with Goldfish, and the trial will entail them having to collect two and a half thousand points to earn a gift voucher for High Street stores worth just ten pounds. This means that these customers will need to spend £2500 before qualifying for a voucher.

Previously cardholders with Goldfish only needed to collect 1750 point, which meant spending £1750, in order to qualify for the voucher.

The selected customers will therefore need to spend an additional £750 before they qualify for a voucher, as you earn one point per pound spent on the credit card. The card scheme is run by credit card giant Barclaycard. Goldfish customers have now been given two options from the credit card giant with regards to how their perks will operate.

Customers who choose to do so can pay a £1 per month fee, and this will enable them to earn double points, which means that they would have to spend £1250 to earn the necessary 2500 points rather than spending £2500.

Alternatively, cardholders can stick with the deal that they have now, but will see the amount of points that they need to earn rise from 1750 to 2500, which means that they will need to spend more money before they are able to qualify for a voucher.

At present the card giant has written to a selection of its customers advising them of the new redemption rate, and giving them a specified period of time within which to redeem their points at the old rate of exchange.
