"Switching credit cards could make a holiday more affordable"

By admin | May 29th, 2009 | Balance Transfers

At this time of year with the summer holidays fast approaching a rising number of parents and families may be thinking about booking a getaway. However, in the current financial climate with people trying to cut back on their spending finding something affordable may prove to be a problem.

In addition to this families face the age old problem of seeing prices for holidays sky rocket once the summer holidays come around, which means that they pay substantially more for going whilst school is out compared to what they would have paid if they could have gone out of the peak summer season.

However, despite these problems that will face many cash-strapped families some industry experts are claiming that a helping hand could be available.

Officials from Abbey Credit Cards have said that some families may find that the holiday is made more affordable by doing something as simple as switching their credit card. With sterling still low against currencies such as the Euro and the dollar it has become increasingly important to families to find other ways of increasing affordability, and changing credit cards could be one such solution.

Abbey said that families could save themselves a fortune in charges by simply switching to a more suitable card. One such card is the Abbey Zero credit card, which has recently made a comeback for the summer season having proven popular last year amongst consumers hoping to cut back on credit card charges whilst on holiday.

An official from Abbey said: “Abbey’s award-winning zero credit card helps to make holiday spending less expensive and is the only card on the high street to offer customers fee-free foreign usage on their spending abroad as well as no cash advance fee.”
