Nationwide offers improvements on credit card warranty cover

The Nationwide Building Society has announced that that it is making some changes to its warranties on its credit card, stating that many consumers could benefit from the changes that have been made, as they will receive greater protection on their purchases. The building society is offering extended warranties on a number of different product purchases in addition to the ones that already enjoy extended protection. The additional cover will not cost consumers anything, and will enable them to purchase a range of items on which they can enjoy greater cover.

There are already a number of items on which extended warranties can be enjoyed when purchased with the Nationwide credit card, and this includes washing machines, televisions, dishwashers, and ovens. However, a range of additional items have also been included and will now also enjoy an addition one year warranty on top of the one that is offered by the manufacturer, which means extra valuable protection for the cardholder.

Amongst the items that will now enjoy the extended warranty are home cinema systems, DAB radios, camcorders and DVDs with hard drive, Freeview boxes, MP3 players, and MP4 players. Cardholders will need to purchase the items on their credit cards, and will need to register the purchase in order to get the extended warranty on the product.

The Nationwide stated: “Any Nationwide credit cardholder who uses their credit card to purchase an electrical item for use within their home can receive a year’s extended warranty cover free of charge - simply by registering it. We have recently improved the range of items that can be covered, to include newer technologies such IPODS, MP3 and MP4 players, Home Cinema Systems and Freeview boxes - which previously weren’t covered.”
