Airline launches credit card

Budget airline Easyjet, which has become well known as a result of the television documentary Airline, has decided to launch its own credit card, which will provide consumers with the convenience and ease of credit card use whilst enabling them to earn rewards towards their regular travel. The card is targeted towards those that tend to travel by plane on a regular basis via Easyjet, and offers a number of benefits for cardholders to enjoy if they use the card regularly and tend to travel regularly.

One consumer who regularly flies with Easyjet stated that she had already got the credit card, and she added that she thought she could really benefit from the card because of the rewards and benefits that it offers. She said: ‘I’m excited because I fly back to Madrid, usually with easyJet, to see family at least once every three months. Often loyalty schemes turn out to be gimmicks, but I think with this one I will really see the benefits.’

The Easyjet credit card does charge a higher than average rate of interest, which stands at 16.9%. However, those that spend at least £250 on the card within the first three months of opening an account will enjoy a range of benefits. This includes a free flight with Easyjet worth up to £40 including taxes and 10% back on the purchase of Easyjet flights and other travel purchases made through Easyjet in the first three months of holding the account.

Customers can also enjoy nine months of interest free credit on balance transfers with the card, and the balance transfer fee is 3%. However, consumers are warned to watch out for the debt trap, where their purchase balance may get trapped behind the transferred balance and accrue interest whilst all repayments are paid onto the interest free transferred balance.
