If you have a credit or debit card of any type then please remember to take appropriate care and attention to them. Treat them like cash, you would not leave your cash in open view for someone to steal would you? You should not treat your cards in this manner also.
Credit CardWhen using your card try to always watch what the assistant is doing with it. Try to always keep the card in your field of vision. In the last few years this is were the majority of credit card fraud occurs and it is BIG business. Waiters and Waitresses have been the main culprit of swiping your card and making a copy of it.
They will then sell your details to a third party. I think that you know what will happen now, goods will be bought using your card and you will not know until you receive that monthly bill. It can be stopped , do not let the card out of your sight. This is another good reason for keeping all your receipts from your credit card ,you can quickly and easily find out which goods that you have or have not purchased.
In the future there will be new technology to try to quell this credit card abuse but what always seem to happen is that the thieves are one step ahead and will adapt to these changes. Remember that this is THEIR livelihood that the credit card companies are threatening to take away.
At the moment the new technology that will play it’s part in the future of credit card fraud will be the smart chip. This is the little gold square on the FRONT of your credit card which is supposedly impossible to copy. We will have to see the results.
The next information to date will be a chip in your arm!! Don’t know of many people that will be happy about having a piece of technology cut into their body but again we will have to see these results too. Not much chance of losing your credit card with this though.
Only take a minimum amount of credit cards with you when you leave for shopping or go on vacation. The less you have with you the less you can lose.
There are many companies that will cover all your credit cards in the event that they are lost or stolen. Once you have registered all your cards with them only one all will put a hold on them or even cancel them completely if you like.
