"What Are Cash Back Credit Cards?"

By admin | December 22nd, 2007 | Cash Back & Rewards

Cash back credit cards have been around for a number of years and are very popular today. While many people want cards, which have 0% interest rates, credit cards with cash back rewards are just as popular. They are excellent for people who are responsible and make their monthly payments on time.

The basic idea for cash back credit cards is fairly simple. When customers make a purchase, a certain percentage of this purchase is given back to them. The percentage is usually only 1%. The money is given back to the customer in the form of a check or as a credit on their account. It could take as long as one year for the customers to get this money. A limit may be place on how much you can spend in order to receive cash back. Only a small portion of the percentage may be paid depending on how much you spend.

Though this is the basic structure, which is used by most companies, there are a few institutions, which do things differently in order to stand out from the crowd. They usually offer cash back rewards, which are much higher than their competitors. Some of these programs will pay back as much as 5% of the amount spent on gasoline or food, and no spending limits are taken into consideration. A rate is given for either all purchases or purchases, which are made in specific categories. Once the customer reaches a set amount, they can request a check to be sent to them.

The amount you have to have in order to receive a check varies. Some credit card companies may set the limit at £50, while others will set it at £100. It is important to remember that the amount you get back is proportional to how much you spend. The more you spend, the more you will get back, but you will still have a higher balance as well. While many companies would automatically send customers a check when they reached a certain amount, they now require customers to request checks themselves.

This change was made because credit card companies realized that a certain percentage of customers would never request their checks, and this would allow the company to hold on to some of its profits. Cash back credit cards are a great tool for getting customers to use their credit cards in order to make purchases
